Last of a Dyin' Breed
"Lynyrd Skynyrd is truly...the 'Last of a Dyin' Breed'!" Let us stop listening to You Tube or the "haters" and believe that reports of their demise are greatly exaggerated! Some say they have lost a step. The "Simple Men" from Jacksonville prove that they rock, even if it isn't the original line-up. On this and every night that I have been blessed to see them, they deliver flawless vocals and riffs. They unleash a power that is only Lynyrd Skynyrd when Johnny turns the bad boys loose and "kicks the mules one time". They played everything that everyone wanted to hear, combining the dual guitar attack, the southern Van Zant voice, and fan participation for a great time for all. It donned on me that I was witnessing history as Broccoli City Festival sang the lyrics, Gary Rossington and "Sparky" played the rhythm guitar and "bird" intro, preceded by Billy Keyes' piano lead-in and followed by Rickey Medlocke's blistering solo of "FREEBIRD"! I don't know how much longer they will play, but they leave me voiceless and give me "Gimme 3 Steps".
